卡雅就在返家後隔天、2月4日時離世，儘管柯爾知道這一刻終將到來，依然感到心碎不捨，但他仍非常感謝機長當天給的廣播驚喜，在卡雅最後一次的旅程終能讓更多人知道牠是多麼棒的狗狗。
